1926-1936, Adams Manufacturing Co.
In 1926, a grocery store owner and four employees of Dunbar Furniture Co. decided to expand their horizons and start their own furniture factory. They named the company Adams Manufacturing. One month later it was renamed Homer Mfg. Co.

1936-1964, Smith Brothers Furniture Mfg. Co.
In 1936, brothers Les and Orv Smith became co-presidents of Homer Mfg. Co. and changed the name to Smith Bros. Furniture Mfg. Co.

1964-1985, Smith Brothers of Berne, Inc.
Orv and Les Smith retired in 1960. In 1964, Carl and Art Muselman purchased Smith Bros. Furniture Mfg. Co.  The Muselman's changed the name to what the factory is still known as today: Smith Brothers of Berne, Inc.

1985-Present, Smith Brothers of Berne, Inc.
In 1985, Steve Lehman (stockholder of Smith Brothers) became president.  His brother, Fred Lehman, serves as the company's vice president.
